    @failcold

    Glad to hear that you're excited about the 146!

    • The sound environment on the MSFS version of the 146 is a lot more dynamic than the P3D version ever was, with realistic noise levels for both engines and wind. The MSFS sounds are superior in just about every way to the already excellent P3D version thanks to Wwise.
    • We'll be sharing more information on the FMS too
    • The 146 has a very rigid wing by its design (high wing, two engines mounted beneath it etc) so we've not simulated any flexing

    @martyn Thanks for the informative reply. The 146 is certainly a "hangar favourite" for me in p3d, and the MSFS version sounds like it's shaping up to be an improved rendition, so I'm counting down the days!

    Looking forward to the 146 in MSFS. Having spent many hours as a passenger in the 146, I've never seen any flexing of the wing. The sounds in XP11 (for me at least) left me wanting more. I never experienced the 'flap howl' and only engine 3 had the bass of start up and operation. I'm hoping MSFS will deliver on these.

    @martyn Hi Martyn I hope you are well, I was wondering if you could clarify something for me. All screenshots pre the 23rd of April on the website featured a correct Fmc for the aircraft the Universal FMC. However your most recent post (23rd) shows a default looking FMC that looks like its been pulled from the Citation. Could you clarify upon initial release that the aircraft will come with a modified default FMC ? Kind Regards Harry

    @mrmach2

    The 146 was originally launched with only the means for conventional (VOR/NDB) navigation, and later retrofitted with a variety of GPS/FMS units for greater flexibility. Our 146 will release with an FMS that is based on the popular WT unit, modified for suitability with the 146 avionics and autopilot, providing full LNAV functionality, SID/STARs, MSFS and SimBrief flight plan support etc.
    As with all our MSFS aircraft, we will continue to introduce new features over time, including different FMS/GPS units such as the commonly fitted UNS-1 and even the GTN 750 (as fitted to some current firefighting 146 aircraft), providing you with even greater customisability of your aircraft.

    @derek Thank you for the clarification Derek.

    I just wanted to leave a little feedback on this: I am very glad to hear that a new FMS will be coming with time. I was disappointed to hear that the FMS is a mod of the WT when a premium price is being asked for the 146.

    However, I understand a similar thing was done for XPlane and you guys delivered then, and I've had nothing but excellent things to say about JF so far, so I'm not too worried in the long run.

    @derek Is there an option (like in the XPlane version) to replace the FMC with a blank panel, for those who like to fly VOR/NBD only?

    @derek Oops! I just found it in the tablet. I swear, that was the first place I looked, but somehow, I just didn't see it!

    Hi @Martyn and the JF team. Congratulations on the continued success of the 146, it's still absolutely a favourite of mine and I'd say you've taken it to the next level in MSFS. I'd also like to commend you guys on your excellent approach to user communication and change logs etc. Best in the business.

    Sorry for resurrecting this old thread, but just wanted to loop back regarding the sounds.

    One thing I've noticed, as per my original post, is that the engine buzzsaw sounds do not seem to fade at cruise altitudes (22/24/26k ft). From my experience as a pax sitting in the first few rows of the 146, the engines usually fade to just a low frequency hum, being completely masked by wind noise.

    Is this something you're able to improve?
