Mouse rotation direction for "Nav Lights" and "Panel Lights" is reversed

For me, that logic confuses the use of the switch. Although I've got used to it now, for quite a while I did keep turning the mouse wheel the wrong way because it's instinctive to turn the mouse wheel the same way you want those switches to go.

@sender46 I've always disliked having to scroll down to increase or scroll up to decrease (altimeters, particularly). It's counter-intuitive, which is why the scroll is set with up to increase and down to decrease, but it was set up with scrolling knobs in mind rather than switches. It would probably be even more confusing were there to be a different approach for each type.

Yes, I'm not sure I understand now either. Are we saying that the rheostats should be rotating the other direction?
Mouse-wheel up to increase the value/setting, brightness in this case, is what seems logical to me and is the logic we've used in aircraft for many years, but I appreciate that might not suit everyone. Usability and realism are not the same discussions in this case though, unless I've misunderstood the issue.

I'm just saying that Piper designed it as "wheel down switches on" and "wheel down further increases brightness". So moving the mouse wheel the other way to achieve those functions is counter intuitive and is not realistic to the way Piper designed the wheel to be moved.
Piper's way of doing it does seem perfectly logical to me.

This. Since I bought the Warrior this has been driving me nuts. My mouse wheel is turning the other way to the wheel in the cockpit. No, the wheel in the cockpit shouldn't be turning the other way if that's the direction they operate but the mouse wheel function should function in sync with it. In other words. my wheel should be rotating up to rotate the wheel in the cockpit up which in Piper logic would actually be turning the lights down.

@sender46 OK, thanks for confirming that the wheel itself moves in the correct direction. IMO that is what matters in terms of realism, with the mouse-wheel interaction method being down to usability and taste. I've never thought that a mouse-wheel is designed to imitate the physical control that it's interacting with as that will vary depending upon the control and cockpit layout in question, instead mouse-wheel up is for increasing and mouse-wheel down is for decreasing. We'll certainly consider changing it and will have that conversation here but I can guarantee from initial feedback that changing it will result in others reporting this as an issue, so I don' think there is a single definitive solution/answer here.

@martyn Thanks for your reply. I understand what you're saying about a convention to rotate the mouse wheel up to increase and vice versa.
But I know that in the Piper Arrow the switch wheel in the sim needs to rotate down to switch on and down further to increase brightness. So what registers most in my mind is which way the switch I'm looking at in the sim needs to move to achieve the function I want.
If I was in an aircraft with a rotating switch that worked the other way, I would (should) know that I needed to rotate the switch in the sim up to increase brightness, so I would automatically rotate the mouse wheel up without having to think about it.
As a simpler example, if I'm looking at a simple switch that is operated by the mouse wheel (say the NAV1/OFF/NAV2 switch for example) I scroll the mouse wheel up to move the switch up and vice versa, without needing to think about it. I don't have to think about whether the mouse wheel works the opposite way or not. I guess that's what intuitive means.

Apologies for the necropost, but I really hope this can be added as an option in the EFB.
Having to scroll up on the mouse wheel instead of down to deploy flaps feels counter intuitive to me.
I tend to think of scrolling down on the mouse wheel as pulling the flap lever up towards me to deploy flaps and vice versa. But it works the other way around; which feels strange.
I understand this may not be for everyone but having the option to reverse this in the EFB would be amazing.
