I also miss the military ai included with T360. The T360 models had very minimal impact on fps in FSX and some of them were pretty good.Thankfully, it is really easy to run a variety of other ai alongside TG.
All that is needed is to have the Simobjects that you want installed (either in your default Simobjects\Airplanes or, by adding the location to fsx.cfg, a completely separate folder somewhere) and have the related traffic.bgl in your scenery folder.
So, by installing which T360 military planes you want and ensuring that T360_MILITARY.bgl is in your scenery folder, you will get T360 military ai back in FSX along with the TG traffic!
The ground vehicles in T360 were a marked improvement over the default and were also region specific. It's easy to keep these in FSX by retaining the modified T360 LWcfg.xml file.
It's even not difficult to setup a variety of 'versions' of the FSX.exe running different ai so that you can, for example, have one running only TG and one running only T360 or any combination of just about any ai programs!
It's a real shame about JF not currently proceeding with the development of ai for the new sim though. There's certainly a demand for decent ai. The TG planes convert easily enough and even seem quite flyable but of course, that's a helluva long way from facing the challenges of producing an ai program!
Guess we'll have to wait for AIG! :beaming_face_with_smiling_eyes:

We're 'not proceeding' because the way the game is made is different to P3D and FSX and it doesn't handle traffic in the same way. AIG will have the same issue - unless they can find some way of rewriting the source code. Rest assured that once there is a way to get traffic running realistically in the sim we will be looking to develop a traffic program. In the meantime it is in the same tray as some study level airliners - the one marked 'awaiting further development'.

@Capt-Quirk Thanks for the info. I'm currently on vacation and my unit is in the shop for an upgrade. When I get home in August I'd like to move with your recommendations here. I'm not entirely familiar with all you just said so hopefully you'll have some time in August to help me further. I would really appreciate it. Thanks. Have a great day v

@supertrucker1681
Absolutely, I'd be more than happy to help! Have a great vacation!Btw, no criticism of JF was intended Derek. Developing ai for FS2020 cannot be easy, especially as updates constantly change things. AIG do also appear to have had to overcome quite few hurdles along the way. FSX 'matured' over a good many years so I guess it's still early days for the new sim!

If I may side-track this discussion for a moment - I have several times tried to get the T360 ground vehicles to run in my FSX without any success. Could you expand upon your statement re using the T360 LWcfg.xml file? Where do you put it and what else to you have to do to enable the seeing of the T360 ground vehicles?
I have ported over many of the T360 aircraft (mostly military) into my FSX with great success so would welcome assistance with the ground vehicles.

@RayM Hi Ray,
Since I did this a long time ago and am relating this from a none too sharp memory, I think this is how it goes:
Installing T360 will install all the vehicles to ....\FSX\SimObjects\GroundVehicles as a bunch of folders named JFTraffic_***
rename LWcfg.spb to LWcfg_.spb [located C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\FSX...where fsx.cfg is located] to disable the default vehicles,
and write in a new file in that folder named LWcfg.xml
As you have played around with this, you already know that anyway but I've included that in case anyone else would like try it.
The only reason that I can think of off the top of my head is that you may still have both the original LWcfg.spb as well as LWcfg.xml in the directory and that may be what's causing only default vehicles to appear (if that is the problem),
I hope you can find the solution. As you know, it's quite often something annoyingly trivial. If not please come back!
Incidentally, as it sounds as though you might be interested, are you aware that there is (or at least was quite some time ago) a decent pushback tug, a FollowMe vehicle addon and some other related freeware stuff out there?
Regards
Frank

Frank - thanks for your recollections on getting T360 ground vehicles to work in FSX. I am certainly unaware of the requirements regarding the LWcfg.spb and LWcfg.xml files - I have no ideas as to what these files do! But I will use your suggestions and see what I can do.

@Capt-Quirk
Frank - hi again.
Many years ago when I first obtained T360, instead of installing it into my FSX, I managed to do a dummy install onto my laptop by putting a dummy file "fsx.exe" onto the laptop and running the install. I got a 'complete install' - much to my surprise. I have now gone back to this installation and found, as you suggested, that the Ground Vehicles had been added to a /SimObjects/GroundVehicles folder and the aircraft had been added also - plus all of the other stuff. I had not noticed until now that, in the C:\Users[username]\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\FSX, a file LWcfg.xml had been added. Opening this file shows the extra ground vehicles being shown as possibly appearing in FSX but in only SOME of the FSX global areas - mainly the most used areas - Europe, USA etc, along with the original ground vehicles, water-based and road-based vehicles.
I note that in my PC FSX installation, I have a file LWcfg.spb but not a LWcfg.xml file. I gather that the .spb file is a compiled version of an .xml file so I am assuming that the .spb file gets created from an .xml file when you run FSX.
So, what I might do is manually add the extra ground vehicles into my FSX /GroundVehicles folder plus put a copy of the LWcfg.xml file into my C:\Users[username]\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\FSX folder. I will rename the LWcfg.spb to LWcfg_.spb and see if FSX creates a new version.
I will advise how this all goes when I get some clear time to do it all. -
Point noted about FSX using the xml. I do note that there is a compiler in the SDK for converting an xml to spb but won't try it until everything is working as req'd.
Thanks again. -

@RayM
That should do the trick, Ray!
FSX shouldn't create a new .spb but use the xml which is great, 'cos then it's easier to edit the file should you want to swap or add any vehicles!Frank - at last I have found some time to complete the addition of T360 GroundVehicles to my FSXA installation. Here are the processes that I found to be required -
T360 file "JFTraffic_Pushback.bgl" - copied to ...\scenery\Global\Scenery
T360 files"JFTraffic_PushBack_(.........).dds" (12 files) - copied to ...\scenery\Global\texture
T360 folders "JFTraffic_(......)" (16 items) - copied to ...\simobjects\GroundVehicles
T360 file "LWcfg.xml" - copied to \Users\xxxxx\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\FSX
FSX existing file "LWcfg.spb" - renamed "LWcfg.xspb" to disable.With these 5 actions, I am pleased to say that now, in the major areas of the world, I am getting the T360 vehicles appearing at my airports. Some are a distinct improvement over the original ones.
I re-iterate my thanks to you for pointing me in the right direction for this.
