Disengaging the S-TEC 55 Autopilot

Hello, left-seaters,
I have a question in regards to fully disengaging the S-TEC 55 Autopilot on the Archer III. Basically, when I'm done with the hold mode and toggle it off, there's still some horizontal trim in effect. The only way I can fully disengage the autopilot is to flip its power switch. I have to imagine there's a less abrupt way. Please advise if I'm missing something. Thank you.
