AI is not positioning aircraft

I am unable to re-position my aircrafts by an AI pilot.
I go to my fleet, select an aircraft, select "Position the Aircraft (AI)", select an destination airport, select an AI pilot. But after that, just nothing happens. The pilot and the aircraft are staying at status "idle". I've already waited for hours, made sure that the aircraft is not overloaded and does have enough fuel. Also the pilot does have the necessary type rating and is allowed for the TOW. What am i doing wrong??
