According to the manual, "When the NAV (navigation) hold switch is engaged, the autopilot will follow the INS or GPS flight plan, if one exists. "

So I created an IFR/GPS flight plan and started my flight. I got into autopilot heading mode and was following the controllers instructions until I got the "turn to heading xxx, follow own navigation" order and flipped the "Nav" switch expecting it to follow the flight plan but nothing happened, the AC stayed on the old heading and did not turn . Is there something else I need to do to get it to work?

I had the same problem and now use LOC/VOR on the A/P switch and the plane now follows a GPS plan.

Also - make sure GPS (CDI) is switched on - Whatever key you have assigned to NAV1/GPS(Toggle).

Sorry I did not see the other thread. this new forum is odd as newest is on the bottom.

@del47 said in Nav Mode -GPS Flight plan:

Dell your tip works but you have to turn on Nav/GPS after you turn the mode switch to LOC/VOR.

              Thanks - I haven't flown the VC10 for a while but I'll make sure I do that.
