Is the VC-10 still in development?
-
Just the question in the topic, seems like it's been lingering forever with no news, and I see there's no subcategory for it here. Is it still coming?
-
@piedmonitor I reached out on Twitter about a month and a half ago and they said that it was still in development, but had hit a snag that had delayed it.
I'm very hopeful we'll see some news soon, or at least some more eye candy. The VC10 is such a wonderful aircraft.

Do hope to be able to bring you some news pretty soon on this and we thank you for your patience whilst things unfold and get resolved this end. Regards.

Normally don't post in forums but in this case made an exception as was waiting for their VC10 for a long time and I'm annoyed at the path this has taken.
well......after all this time....... in short they have cancelled the XPlane VC-10......................
After the lengthy development time and comments of 'we're still working on it' here and there - received e-mail alert this week anouncing the below from JustFlight. Had signed up ages ago for e-mail alerts on when the VC-10 will be released.
Can also see all the VC-10 Xplane stuff is completely gone from JustFlight's site. Just like that.
Silly decision to just give up after all this time and what a waste, hope they change their mind in the future.
VC10 - Standard, Super & RAF for X-Plane 11
Dear Sir/Madam,
We’re writing to let you know that unfortunately we have decided not to proceed any further with the development of our VC10 add-on for X-Plane 11.
We had high hopes for the aircraft but a number of unforeseen problems with the development of the software have arisen over recent months and we no longer feel confident that we can complete the aircraft with the systems complexity and the overall standard of quality which we know you would, quite rightly, expect from us.
Our sincere apologies.
Best wishes,
The Just Flight Crew

@m-nonymous No, that's not really fair. I'll repeat what I've said to another poster:
You're disappointment is mirrored here at Just Flight.
We're really sorry it's come to this but we've done what we believe is the right thing. We did all we could to try and keep the project running and progressing but our attempts in the end were futile. Nobody would have thanked us had we allowed it to be released in it's current state and attempts to improve the project ended up failing unfortunately. It's fair to say I think you'd be far more disappointed if we'd pushed on and released it than you are right now. This has ended up being the lesser of the two evils. Apologies again.

@voice-of-reason
Dear team,
also I was shocked when I received the notification. I was full of joy when I read the VC10 header hoping for it to be ready for release.
I am sure that after such a long development time and certainly also significant financial investments you did not take this decision easy.
Being an early customer for the FXS and P3D VC10 and a VC10 lover, I was really looking forward to this plane as I have meanwhile switched to XPlane.
Of course you can judge it better than any outside customer and VC10 aficionado and any certainly you had many internal discussions and decisions, but would it perhaps nevertheless be a possibility to release what you have ? If you consider it incomplete then just release it as a give-away or sell it for a symbolic amount or just clearly indicate that it is a pre-release product with not follow-up updates to be expected.
I know the quality of your products and I can assume your own expectations. But a VC10 with incomplete systems or incomplete exterior is by far better than no VC10. And from the pre-release pictures the plane looked really great. And perhaps there are testbed variants with only one swith to turn on the respective (non-functional) system(s).
Thanks & best,
Florian
