Better to have something good today than have something perfect never. And they will have to charge so much to cover the costs that nobody will be able to afford it. As it is the only choices I see for V5 is PMDG which is too complex and very very expensive, and the old FSX default so for now that is what I am stuck using.

@joefremont PMDG is what I use currently, excellent aircraft and well worth the money.

@joefremont to be frank, provided all the systems listed are properly implemented, and the exterior model is fixed, I would gladly pay a ~$120 price tag for this aircraft. I hope others would be in agreement.

Am having so much fun flying the recently released “other” 747-200 in X-Plane. Really looking forward to being able to fly this one in P3dv4.5, especially being able to use time acceleration across the pond.
Keep up the good work guys and take your time to get it right 😄

I hope they dont abandon the P3d version of this like they did the F28 after all the disappointment and delays

            @cptkiddapi

The situation with the F28, as we have explained before, was not that we abandoned it for P3D; it is that the public very quickly abandoned P3D for MSFS. The F28 was not that far along the systems development cycle and so it would have been commercial folly to invest a huge amount of development time in continuing to produce a product for a simulator with a very small potential market.
747 is a very different kettle of fish. It has been a complete aircraft in P3D for quite some time and the delays on it have been down to a change in systems development team when it was nearing completion. It makes more sense to complete the aircraft for P3D and then re-develop for MSFS, rather than start again from scratch in MSFS.

Just looking to see if there’s any possible updates, and if some blatant model errors(omnipresent left upper deck door, missing upper deck door windows, wing slat shape, engine models) are being rectified, and a bit more information on included things, like if there will be a 2 or 3 autopilot option, or just 3 now, if there will be a tape gauge option for the cockpit, and what variants of the engines will be available. Specifically what JT9D variants for the -100 and -200, I’ve seen some screenshots show the JT9D-7R4G2, but I was curious if the actual modeled variant would be a more common variant, like the -7J or -7Q.

@noob21 Now that are making good progress with the systems coding again, the entire project is currently going through a review and upgrade process to bring everything up to the latest standards and to ensure that the visual detail and accuracy matches the study-level depth of those systems. Once we've finished that review, early next year, then we'll be sure to update you all here on those upgrades and improvements, including new screenshot and video previews.

@martyn Alright then, I’ll await those updates patiently. If there’s any need for references or scrutiny on the model, I’d be happy to help, though I can’t claim any REAL experience with the 747 sadly, just enthusiasm and a fair bit of learned knowledge from the internet and visual references.

@martyn It's great to hear progress is being made. Hopefully you guys can incorporate some customization like Leonardo Software did in the MD-80 on things like types of gauges and such. (I personally prefer the round type over tape.)

@cptkiddapi I would also find this fun, I definitely hope there’s tape gauges as a variant, but more specific cockpits like KSSU style and so on would also be quite neat. That said I can be very much happy with just tape gauges vs round and 2 autopilots vs 3.

I saw this on the comments section of one of JF's recent facebook posts, thought that people on here who don't check there would appreciate the update:

"We've covered this elsewhere but the 747 is undergoing visual upgrades and we're in the final stages of aircraft systems coding, which were long-delayed due to the circumstances of the previous coder. We expect to be in a position to share new previews in the next or two, and then regularly after than up until release."

Looking forward to seeing the previews!

To be honest, meanwhile I do not believe anymore in a release of the 747 classic.

@bodom You're very much free to hold that belief.

I meanwhile choose to hold the belief that good things take time. I'm more than happily flying the -400 around the world in the meantime.

I would have been more disappointed if the 747 Classic had released a year ago as a sub-standard product than I will be if it takes another 6 months to a year (or longer) to release as a polished simulation. Even if there is never a P3D release I haven't parted with any cash, so no material loss on my part.

I look forward to seeing any previews that are/ may be upcoming; and indeed to hopefully being able to get my hands on the controls in time.

I’m more than happy to wait for a mature product with all of its issues ironed out. Take your time to get it right and thank you for the continued investment in the fabulous P3d platform.

I for one still have faith. I believe we will have a perfect ILS approach into IFR
minimums with a cross wind, a greased landing and the 747 will be released.

                                          https://www.justflight.com/product/747-classic

Nothing new to show from the last few months of work apart from many lines of code which don't make for exciting updates. As soon as we have anything for public consumption we will release more news.
