747 Classic Progress

@Voice-of-Reason Well Rich said the 747 team is zeroing on the release so I thought it would be closer.

@Rich will the 747 have advanced sounds such as air conditioning packs, avionics ventilation, etc?
Yes, like the 146 the 747 will feature a detailed sound set including custom cockpit environment sounds.
-
Do you guys have any new pictures for us? I believe it was said it would be presented to us either last or this week!
-
We will try and sort some new pics and hopefully a video or two soon for you all. We'd hoped to have some new content for you to see by now but it's not been possible. We're not dodging the issue here, but want to ensure that when we have some new content for you all, that it's fresh new material, fit for airing, to show off progress and some new elements of the 747. Anything right this minute wouldn't look noticeably different to anything you've already seen. Rest assured, work, hard work continues on this and as soon as we can we'll show it off to you all.
In the meantime, thanks for your patience on this one, it's appreciated.
-
@Voice-of-Reason I figured that was the reason why there hadn’t been any updates in a while, and that completely makes sense.
-
So the new pics look great but I was wondering if the new cockpit lighting will be in P3D v4 too?

Yes it will.
Will post some of those pics up in here later on, too.

Any ideas on a release date. Been waiting a long time for this one.
-
Agreed, I just hope they release it next month been waiting for a classic 747 for years!
-
Regarding a release date, it's not something we're able to offer much of a guarantee on currently. I'd love to advise that it will be ready and released next month but that's not the case currently. I don't want to raise hopes only for them to be dashed further down the line.
This one is being developed away from the internal team so we have less control than normal over things, which is proving frustrating for us as it is for you all. Where work that we control gets completed we can show that off but the crux of the heavy coding work isn't done internally and we're in the hands of others to an extent other than looking to manage the process as best we can.
We'll strive to get things done, tested and ready for release as soon as possible but it hasn't been a swift job up to now so no real evidence that that pattern will change anytime soon.
On the plus side when the work gets done it's looking neat it's just proving quite a long journey.
Thanks to you all for your patience.

@Voice-of-Reason I had my fingers crossed for this years cross the pond, but...there's always next year! Looking forward either way.

@Voice-of-Reason
Away from the internal team? I remembered it was developed by JF's in-house team. -

-
Is it going to be ready by the end of the year?
-
@Captain-Bakon No it won't be I'm afraid. Thanks for your interest and apologies for the delay in bringing this one out.
-
Is the A300 in the same state or can we see this one overtake the 747.
-
@Oskar3058 Could well overtake the 747 in all honesty, we shall see and bring news as and when we can.
-
I was afraid of that. I kind of wish I had no idea that this was coming since the wait is getting old. I get that things take time but this is a needed addon for the classic simmers such as myself.
-
I hope with the time that this is taking, problems are being fixed like the lack of the wing kink, models with the left upper exit deleted, cargo door angles fixed, and other general bugs. As long as bugs are getting fixed, by all means take as much time as is needed.
