Love the new model, looks much more realistic great job JF!

@Voice-of-Reason When you guys say early next year, do you mean January or February?

I agree, the updates do look nice. However the lower cargo doors still seem to have the wrong opening angle.
That'll be looked at and fixed if it's an issue, thanks.
-
@Captain-Bakon Could be either. Both sit in the 'Early next year' category.
-
@Voice-of-Reason I'm sorry if this has already been asked multiple times, but how much would this bird cost once released? Very excited can't wait for the new year to fly this thing!
-
@alexsoany Will announce the pricing early January hopefully.
-
@Voice-of-Reason I did already leave a source on the opening angle of the cargo doors in another thread, but I’ll leave it here as well, it’s a pretty straightforward example. https://www.atclogistic.net/air-freighter-specification/

@Rich Thank you! It looks much more proper now, I’m glad you guys were willing to take that information to put it to good use! All too often small problems like this are overlooked and it leads to problems with systems like GSX and the like, as the proper ULDs can’t fit under the door. I hope the problems with the SCD and NCD on the freighter model are also being corrected. Can’t wait for this product in a few months. Also, now that more information about FS2020 has come to light, does JF possibly have plans on porting the P3Dv4 version of this to FS2020 when JF gets their hands on the SDK, likely within the next year or so?
-
No problem. Thanks very much for supplying the reference material. The opening angle has also been corrected on the 200 and 200F. Hopefully we'll have some screenshots of those variants out soon.
We can't make any promises at this very early stage, but the 747 would be right at the top of the list of aircraft we would want to get onto FS2020. Hopefully we'll be able to say more as more information about the sim becomes available. -

All this gimmicky stuff might be ok for the kids, but what about us real simmers?
Any chance of seeing some cockpit shots inflight? Seeing the EPR / N1 values etc?
How Realistic the FDE is more important then a cargo door. The cargo door pic was posted in direct response to earlier feedback and is by no means a reflection of our current focus. We have been working on finalising the exterior model animations and so fixed the cargo door, and wanted to keep Noob21 updated on that fix. I'm also not sure cargo doors are gimmicky, but I appreciate that they don't constitute a realistic simulation.
In-flight pics including engine values will be coming soon, and we are of course paying close to attention to the realism of the FDE, as per the in-dev page specs.

@Rich I’m aware you obviously cannot make any promises, but from what I can tell, FS2020 is looking promising for a level of backwards compatibility, as it is still based off FSX, and presumably will be a somewhat easy adaptation from P3DV4, albeit it will likely need a brand new flight model with the new aerodynamic system they have implemented. Also, I noticed that the compatibility list on the page for the aircraft now only has P3DV4 listed. Was 32bit compatibility scrapped in favor of P3DV4 and eventually FS2020 when JF gets the needed information and tools to start developing aircraft for it?

We've only been working on the 64bit version during development. At the moment there are a lot of features on the aircraft that wouldn't work in FSX and would need to have suitable replacements created - the internal and external lighting systems as one example. We'll need to make a judgement call whether the work to create an FSX version can be justified, especially if its running alongside work to create FS2020 and X-Plane versions, once the P3Dv4 version has been released. If we possibly can then the team will for sure though.
We'd like to confirm compatibility with FS2020, or at least commit to releasing an update within a reasonable time frame, just as soon as we have enough information to do so.@PeteFly82 said in 747 Classic Progress:
great. Thanks for the progress infos.
Any new pics of the freighter version?Watch this space! We're due to have a fully PBR'd, animated and tagged version ready as soon as tomorrow. Once we have that we'll be publishing a new set of pics.
