Parking brake/wheel brakes

Morning all,
I haven't used X-Plane for a while, having been using MSFS2020, but have just booted up X-Plane 11 to configure my X-56. I'm having an issue with all of my JF Piper aircraft. When I use the Toggle Brakes or Hold Brakes it activates the parking brake rather than the toe brakes.
I'm assigning the brakes to the pinky trigger on my joystick, as I don't have rudder pedals. Am I missing something here? I don't remember the parking brake being applied before when using the brakes? Have I assigned the wrong commands here?
