What are your first impressions of the VC10 Pro?

Loading either tutorial produces a CTD.
Unable to start from C&D. Shaft rotation light does not illuminate. Initial battery voltage is below 20 volts.
Manual doesn't help much phrases like, "set the various control switches to the NORM/ON/OPEN positions" are rather vague
-
Overall a nice model, but heavy on system resources. I would be keen to less detailed model and textures to enjoy a fluid simulation experience.
I agree that the manual is somehow vague.
The INS should have an option to automatically load the current fsx flightplan (or have I missed this option?)
I was able to start the "jetliner" version with no issues, but I've had no luck on starting this one. Maybe the batteries die too soon? -
@rosariomanzo I think you're right about the batteries. It loads with a voltage of less than 20.

I've got a CTD when trying to start the VC-10. Reinstalled, same problem. Tested both installation options to no avail. My windows log shows the P3D ntdll.dll crash. Tested all other heavy addons without any problems.
Later today I'll try to redownload the installer and see how it goes.
Very frustrating. Not a good start! -

Very frustrating. Not a good start!Did you install the VS C++ components (the window that pops up at the end of the install process)? Without those installed, the INS gauge may cause the simulator to CTD. If you did install those but still get a CTD then please submit a ticket so we can investigate (https://support.justflight.com/support/tickets/new) as we haven't encountered the same issue during the lengthy testing process.

Hi Pete. We are investigating this issue now. I'll get back to you ASAP.

Yes I did. I'll try a fresh download and installation later today. If the problem persists then I'll open a ticket. Thanks.

@rosariomanzo
My engines didn't want to start at first either, at first I thought it might be the betteries too but my attention went to the HP Cock Lever and by chance I clicked on the Electrical ram air turbine (ELRAT) selector lever to the left of the HP Cock Levers and the engine sprang to life.
I repeated this for the other engines and it worked for them all. -
@petesmiffy
It works ...but it shouldn't!
After posting I realized that the Ram air turbine is (correct me if I'm wrong) an emergency electrical supply which shouldn't work on the ground (it's a bug if I'm right)
The engines not starting on normal battery power is in fact correct, to start the 1st engine always needs GPU or APU power, I havn't seen a GPU but at the back of the Engineers panel is an APU unit, I will try to work out how to start it. The APU should be started before starting the Hydraulic Pumps too.
As with the Jetliner, the Tutorial is incomplete. -
@mkjordan said in What are your first impressions of the VC10 Pro?:
@Martyn
Can you incude how to start the APU?
So far I can't get it running, I realize it will need a fuel supply but even with all four fuel pumps on it still didn't want to start.Yes, no problem. We'll include an APU start guide.
-
I tried to start the APU and, although nothing happened on the panel, when I opened the APU Bleed Valve I got air supply to the staters. Still had to use the RAT for electric power.
-
The CTD when loading the tutorial is probably because the aircraft is parked at a non-existent stand.

There is ground power, after turning the batteries On & TRU switches Normal, turning the switch above GND Service Bus to close (above the battery switches) gives ground power, only the ground power is disconnected as soon as I introduce the ground air supply. I did succeed in starting the engines by introducing the ground air later & the HP lever last.
The other problem is as soon as I remove ground equipment there is no GPU, which means starting engine no.3 with all the airstairs and so on still there.
