AH Hurricane - Starting
-
Fantastic aeroplane, except - I can start okay with Ctrl/E but if I try a manual start I break my Hurricane. All goes well until I press the Start. I hold it in while the prop slowly turns, then, at exactly the moment that the engine fires, the aircraft leaps forward, smashes its prop and starts to bounce around the airfield at 150+ knots, until the P3D Red Mist overcomes me.
Anyone else experienced this, or is it just me?

So it is just me then.

Worth checking with AH direct? The problem you outline sounds fairly major so is likely to be reported if it's a bug.

I am awaiting their reply. Just thought I would find out if anyone else had experienced this. I suspect it has something to do with the exhaust flames.

@Dave Sorry you have problems too, but also glad that it's not just me.
I have contacted AH but no response yet.
My usual problem with AH single pistons is that the starter does not engage long enough for the engine to fire. Now it fires far too quickly! -
I popped a message up over at SimOuthouse to see if anyone there had the same issue.
Got a response back from Bazzar (AH head honcho) as follows:It's an old (FSX) bug. You need to "clear the mixture" using Cntrl/Shift/F4. Previous flights and restarts of the simulator will reset the mixture to full. The auto-mixture setup in the Hurricane does not use this.
However, I've tried the suggestion but it made no difference to me.

Doesn't work for me either. I also tried Ctrl/Shift/F1, which seemed more logical to me, but that didn't work.

Got it!
Well, this works for me.
Delete and reinstall.
After loading - Ctrl/Shift/F4
Do NOT touch the Starter Mag Switch (forget that it exists).
Start as normal - less the Starter Mag.
