@wings-of-gold This forum is like tossing a message in a bottle, but in the unlikely event this washes up to some interested party, here's the skinny:

On the captain's side overhead there are two buttons that will illuminate when you push them--DLC is off and you can dive and drive to your heart's content.

OR you can leave them on for manual landings and be very careful, like this:

Get very, very stable on your approach first. As you have no doubt learned, you have next to nil elevator authority at flaps 33 with the DLC operating, so you're going to want to be able to coast down the glidepath with very little adjustment. Then use your throttles to stay on the glidepath. It take some practice, but can be done.

I have to give the dev a lot of credit for modeling the DLC (otherwise used on the Space Shuttle). The idea was to permit adherence to the glidepath without a lot of control input. Real L1011 pilots liked it because it made them look good. I suspect our TriStar's implementation is quite a bit trickier than it was in real life, but it will certainly encourage good airmanship!

This old product is still going strong in P3Dv5 although a bit dated. In some ways it's better than the other L1011 out there, plus, as a -500 it has awesome intercontinental range.

@derek Hi Derek. That wasn't meant about your support. I'm just saying as a customer-to-customer forum my fellow customers aren't very chatty and could be more helpful. I like the TriStar and DC-8--okay, that one's modded a bit ;-)--a lot and haven't had too much trouble with customer support from JF. In fact, So, when is that 747 coming out? 😃
