Plane-to-Plane Chat Resources?

I would love to organize a meet-up or fly-in of JustFlight plane owners. Nothing too fancy at first - maybe a short hop to some interesting place with a scenic enroute. It would be nice if operations and general coordination was part of the event. However most, if not all of the ATC services do not allow plane-to-plane or pilot-to-pilot communication. I can certainly understand why.
Surely in this day and time somebody has come up with a freeware or shareware product that can do these things. Is it possible within the MSFS 2020 Multiplayer section to do this? Dunno....In the early days of MSFS (and many 3.5: floppies) it WAS doable from within the sim...I did it. Is this workable across competing flight sim platforms? If anyone knows of such resources - or - would like to experiment with the MSFS 2020 Multiplayer feature let me know and we'll work out the where and when.

Hi. Doesn't virtual Pilot that VATSIM uses do this?
I haven't flown VATSIM in a long, long time, but before my other computer died I did try it.I'd be happy to do a fly session someday if you felt like it. Just to see how it works and such.
