E-mail Settings

How do I edit e-mail settings? I just registered but want to have the ability to specify the types of e-mails I'm interested in, such as e-mails about product sales but perhaps not other kinds of e-mails. I found it a little off-putting I was required to consent to e-mails and there seems to be no easy way to edit what I receive even though I wanted to receive certain e-mails anyway. I don't want to receive random e-mails every week advertising things I am not interested in, or every time a new product is released.

We send out very few emails, compared to some organisations, so we don't filter them beyond Flight or Trains.
OK, how do I change those settings then? I don't have any flight stuff, so that would not interest me.
Also wondering if I can mark messages read, I was hit with 17 unreads upon creating my account and they are still there.EDIT: Never mind, figured that one out. -
Not sure we're talking about the same thing here. We have no system for 'unread messages' - unless you mean the forum, and that would be new posts or an envelope symbol that stands for 'unread posts' - as in: 'things other people have posted on the forum that you haven't read yet'. .
The forum is a completely separate thing and uses proprietary software.
We don't send any emails out to forum users. If you are interested in chatting about trains online you may want to check out some of the online forums such as UKtrainsim.com etc
If you want to hear from Just Flight or Just Trains you can sign up to get news on our website(s). There is a link on the RH side that says: "Get regular emails from Just Trains. Keep up to date with our latest news, sales, new add-ons and projects in development!"
If you decide to opt out of this at any time, you simply select 'unsubscribe' from one of the mails. Finally, if you buy from us, you can choose to be added to our database as part of the purchase process. You can select whether to receive flight or train (or both) types of marketing and you can opt out by amending the options in your account.
Hope that helps.

Oh, so this account is not tied to the Web site? I was under the assumption that it was. This is news.
Well, it is our forum, but, no, we don't automatically opt anyone that joins the forum into our marketing. Never have done. If you want to hear from us you have to sign up.
If you want to chat about flight and train simulation you can register for our forum, but there is no obligation to buy anything or receive our marketing.
