KSAN San Diego RNAV (GPS) Y 27 from LYNDI (IAF), BSQR Bonanza. PMS50 GTN750. I find that it's not until I'm near CIJHI that the AP will Couple to the GP. I would have expected it to be able to couple out near VYDDA (IF) after I'm established on the final apch crs.

Any guidance would be appreciated. I'm figuring this is an AP question rather than a PMS50 question?

    Thanks ...

I don't have anything to do with how or when the autopilot couples to any GPS vertical guidance, so this one would be a question for the PMS50 developer, I believe. Thanks for asking, though! I don't suspect there is anything "wrong" here from my experience, but I hope you find some information soon.

    Feedback from PMS50:
Usually, set the AP approach mode when flying the FAF leg and make sure to be at the published altitude at the FAF could make it to correctly catch the GP at the FAF.

I usually try to capture the GS / GP further out (great example would be the LONG approach step downs at major airports such as Detroit Metro) and let the AP ride it down. But as I'm now flying some aircraft with the GTN750, this surprised me when I could not capture as soon as I was established on the final apch crs. Learn something every day.
