KI206, no GPS signal coming through
-
Hey,
congrats on an absolutely stunning product.I am using the TDS GTN750 + 650 setup.
I can switch the HSI from GPS to VLOC using the button on the upper left corner of the panel, the RNAV selector panel on the right corner of the panel and the CDI switch on the GTN itself. So far so good- but the KI206 stays at VLOC regardless of the CDI button of the GTN650.
Am I missing something? Also, the copilot's KI206 is only acdepting the old RNAV input, even though not used, is that correct? This would be a waste of panel space when flying with a modern setup..
Thx

Thank you for your kind words!
I just checked the code. The KI206 (the localizer instrument on the pilot's panel, not the HSI, for anyone else reading) will not accept GPS input from the GTN650, as there is no distinction between GPS and VLOC on the secondary unit and the primary unit. I figured this was more useful than having both the HSI and the LOC always display GPS information, or always display VLOC information. I asked the TDS developer a while ago if he could add some extra variables for me. He was very receptive, and always an amazing person to work with. I don't think that happened yet, but I can look into it.
Yes, the copilot's KI206 always displays RNAV information. That's why it's placarded "RNAV" underneath it, haha. Sorry you feel that it's a waste. If it matters to you substantially, I could walk you thought a little code insert to make the instrument display other navigation sources. Just say the world.
Thanks for writing! I hope that answers some of your questions.

Sorry for the late reply. I absolutely support older navigational stuff. In FSX times I flew the Stratocruiser across the pont using weatherships and celestial navigation (although a bit simplified) and I am quite firm in using the INS.
However I love realism, so I'd either go old school, radio navigation + RNAV, or simulate a panel how it would fly today- with GNS or GTN. If I would update the panel on an aircraft like the Duke with modern avionics, I would certainly through out all the old radios, transponders and outdated stuff like the RNAV unit, which would clean up the panel and save some weight after all.
It would be great if we could opt for a panel without the RNAV unit (and in this case, the copilot's HSI could be used for GPS2 / NAV2).
