Unable to activate AP

Hello, just tried to do my first flight in the piston version but I'm not able to switch on AP after take off.....i remains off regardless what i try. Any idea or do i oversee something? Thx

pitch trim switch ON ?
(from the manual : The pitch trim power switch, is located to the right of the panel lighting dimmers,
must be in the on position for the autopilot servos to control the aircraft)
