Panel state loading inconsistent

I have found that my preferred panel layout (TDS GTN and NAV2 radio) does not always load.. I regularly get a secondary GNS showing up.. both in the A36 and the TBM850. So I went the "Carenado route" and hardcoded the LVars into the runway.flt file. Two things happened:
a) the correct panel shows up
b) the VFR map now consistently shows the flightplan (which had also been inconsistent)
Is there a known issue with the panel state saving/loading code which I am running into?
