    Hi,
    Whenever I paint the -3000 (and possibly other variants), in the hangar and occasionally in-sim, I see black wingtips.
    This applies to repaints that I have done, as well as repaints done by others.
    The attached example linked images are of an excellent German Air livery from Fs.to, another of my recent liveries, and a new repaint of mine that I'm about to upload, but there are several other examples of this issue.
    I cannot see any (obvious) differences in the texture files or in the CFG files, so I thought I'd ask experts here for their opinion.
    Thanks,
    Fabio

    Hi Fabio. That's not an issue that I've come across before but checking the paint kit, that area has straightforward mapping on the area that you'd expect:

    Wing.png

    Are you modifying just the albedo textures or also the comp/norm?

    @martyn Hi, not that I know of, but the idea that liveries made by others exhibit the same issue makes me wonder whether the issue is elsewhere.
    Most of my -3000 liveries are straightforward colours without other supporting files, but I’m always happy to learn to better understand appropriate techniques.

    @fab10 I meant to add that these recent upgrade did not change this issue, so with a fresh installation the problem is still evident.
    I’d it somehow related to lighting?

    @fab10

    Hi,

    With my own as well as with repaints made by others, the wingtips show normally during the day but this changes with low light, be it outside or in the MSFS hangar.

    With fading light the wingtips turn to black as can be seen in this quickly created MP4:
    https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/gqge3vnd9ugb93smdbtji/JF-F28-3000-Time-of-Day-vs-Wingtips.mp4?rlkey=6k9uo5s33e6rd7vrdixfstvb6&dl=0.

    With any default Just Flight F28-3000 livery, time of day and/or lighting is not a factor.

    With respect to amending any other texture files, I can only answer no with respect to my own liveries. The fallback CFG and aircraft.CFG seem fine to my untrained eyes. Have you downloaded any user crafted F28-3000 liveries to check directly?

    My repainting skills are nominal as is my technical knowledge, so I'm happy to learn where I (we) are going wrong.

    Thanks,
    Fabio

    @Martyn
    Please could you find the time to look at my earlier short video as well as testing a user created F28-3000 livery under low light conditions.

    I am using a fresh installation of the newly upgraded F28, but this wingtip issue was already evident in previous F28 versions.

    Unfortunately not knowing other F28 sim pilots means I can’t ask anyone but Just Flight to double check.

    Thank-you.

    No worries, I’m quite sure you’re busy on greater things.
    In the interim I have decided to remove all 28 of my F28 liveries until I’ve been able to establish the cause of those irritating low light black wingtips. I don’t want end users thinking there’s an issue with my liveries that I can’t fix.
    If only I knew another willing and able F28 owner as it would take them but a moment to help answer my question.

    Martyn of Just Flight was previously engaged with this topic, but he appears to have departed from it; am I to guess whether he has entirely disengaged for me to instead raise a formal support request?
    For something so simple, not an ideal situation, I'll instead sit it out.
    Out of interest, could you check?

    Martyn's not about at the moment. As I say, your best bet would be to raise a ticket with support and they can always forward it to him if they get stuck.

    @derek

    I cannot imagine why Just Flight’s own support team would get stuck watching my one minute video, downloading a few -3000 liveries, and then looking at a few repaints during day/dusk.

    Anyway, it’s good to know that support are easily in touch with Martyn even when he’s away.

    However, I feel ambivalent about contacting JF support directly when (A) I’ve just been left hanging in this thread, and (B) this thread is already known to JF.

    In the interim, I have the refreshed BAe146 to enjoy. That said, I noticed a reportable issue during a LNAV DME/ARC to an ILS involving spurious DME readings on the HSI, but that I will leave to another day.

    It’s not doing anyone any good, and I feel as if I can do no more.

    @fab10 This issue is currently being investigated by our artists and I'll reply as soon as we've found the cause and have a suitable fix

    @fab10 Do you see any difference if you copy the 'F28_l_wing_comp.png' and 'F28_r_wing_comp.png' textures found in the \Just Flight Fokker F28-4000\texture\ and paste them into the \Just Flight Fokker F28-3000\texture\ folder, overwriting the existing files?

    @martyn
    I noted some time ago that the -3000 appears to have missing files when I first started repainting the F28, for instance with wing and cargo compartment issues.
    Here's a dir of the -3000 texture folder as it stands in my new installation, here shown without the R wing files.
    Before I overwrite anything, I thought it best to report this, and that I'd only be overwriting L wing textures as the -4000 has both L and R files.

    @Martyn

    It is definitely to do with the "texture.cfg" file within the texture folder itself.

    A rather lovely Cimber Air new F28-3000 livery that was uploaded yesterday does not exhibit this issue.

    I checked the texture.cfg from this livery and found it to be different to the one I had been using, and by copying the texture.cfg file into my own liveries, the low-light level lack wingtips stopped immediately even after reloading in-sim.

    Problem solved, now I must refit my -3000 liveries with this texture.cfg, the origin of which is likely to have been from (a) another user livery which I often use as the folder/file structure, or (b) from a blank or bundled default livery from within the installed aircraft.
