Can't Change AP pitch
-
I'm having a major problem trying to change my pitch in AP. I have the Honeycomb Alpha/Bravo. In Pitch mode the aircraft will not respond to commands to pitch down so I can speed up to 250 kts. The wheel just rolls right back to the same position it was in. It doesn't matter if I use the trim wheel on the Bravo or the control on the center panel. Using GPS nav could be a factor, but I hadn't tried it in VOR mode.

If you have Autopilot engaged with PITCH mode, you can adjust pitch using the blue PITCH control switch on the Autopilot Controller on the aft pedestal. That is the only way pitch can be adjusted in PITCH mode and the elevator trim wheel will have no effect.
The PITCH control on the autopilot controller can also be controlled using the following MSFS control assignments:
INCREASE AP PITCH HOLD REFERENCE
DECREASE AP PITCH HOLD REFERENCEI personally have those assigned to the white switch on the right side of my Honeycomb Bravo and find it to feel very natural.

Is it intended for the pitch to snap back? I have the AP pitch reference set to the thumb buttons on my Alpha yoke and during climb outs when I set it initially to pitch hold and try to use those binds to push the nose down it snaps back up to what it was previously and does not hold the desired pitch so you cannot increase speed as per the tutorial/checklist.

@jetnoise I'm sitting here on the ground playing with it... are you using the GPS unit? I just tried without the GPS unit and with the GPS and it seem like it might be an issue when using the GPS unit. Because when not using the GPS unit I was able to move the pitch trim with the pitch hold reference without it immediately snapping back to whatever. However when the GPS unit was enabled it immediately started snapping to what it was before when using the pitch trim switch/binding.

With the GNS 530 NOT selected, I still have issues with pitch modes. After takeoff setting AP on and controlling pitch works fine.
Having an altitude selected, makes the AP switch from Pitch to HT, but while it tries to level out, it keeps climbing through the set altitude.Changing back to Pitch mode, the stabiliser seems to be stuck, and I can no longer change the pitch - the elevator trim wheel simply snaps back.
I have tried to disable the WT GNS 530 in the Panel.cfg file, but with no change.
Edit:
On my Stream Deck I can monitor the in-sim (Asobo) Autopilot settings. When I engage the F28 AP, then the following in-sim (Asobo) AP functions are set to ON: AP Master & Level mode.
The F28 AP shows Roll & Pitch, and I can set the Pitch with the switch on the Pedestal or by pressing the V/S Inc./Decr. switches on my Stream Deck.Once the F28 comes close to the Altitude preset, the in-sim AP changes to V/S and the V/S value decrease until it reaches the set altitude, where it changes to ALT hold mode.
But the F28 just keeps climbing and the Elevator trim wheel seems to be stuck, or rather snaps back to it´s initial position when I use either the Pitch switch (or V/S Incr./Decr. switches on my Stream Deck).I wonder if any 3rd party addon can affect the AP.
I have alot of Aircraft addons, but most uses the standard (now WT) GPS units, PMS 750 or TDS GTNXi.Edit 2:
I tried to disable all my addon aircraft in the Community folder to rule out any incompatibility with any of those , but to no avail. -
Just a thought...
Could the PMS GTN750 or TDS GTNxi 750 cause Autopilot issues ?
Also - is the F28 using standard MSFS AP functions, or are some of them custom coded ?
The reason is that when I look on which MSFS AP functions are actve on my Stream Deck, I wonder why the LEVEL mode always seems active.
Also when I use IAS mode, once I get near the Preset altitude, the MSFS AP switches from IAS to V/S mode with decreasing V/S as it comes closer tol the Preset altitude and then goes to ALT mode.
But while the MSFS AP indicates to be in ALT mode and V/S is set to 0 ft/min on my Stream Deck, the Aircraft keeps climbing. -
@wothan Yes, the autopilot uses custom code in the process of leveling off towards an altitude capture, both in PITCH and IAS modes. This is to smooth the capture form an otherwise different behavior with or without GNS selected. However, once altitude has been reached, the AP is totally controlled by MSFS ALT HOLD mode. It seems in your case there might be some controller mapping issues. We are going to investigate that.

Note that I´m not using any controller for the AP other than AP ON/OFF Toggle on my Yoke and the V/S Incr./Decr. on my Stream Deck.
In the start I used the blue Pitch switch on the Pedestal, but with the same issue.I have only tried the F28 4000, and will try one of the other versions this afternoon.
So I´m pretty sure that this isn´t a controller mapping issue, but rather some backround app intervening - or a F28 bug.
