Default Steam Tour in Western Mainlines

Has anyone completed the - SDML (Default) Steam Tour To The West - successfully? My problem is that on starting the scenario the first instruction is to move forward to take on water. However, the tender of the Black Five is already full at the start with 4,000 gallons. Therefore, when you get to the water tanker it will not load any water because the tender is full. Hence the scenario marks this with a cross. I can then drive to Plymouth with no other problems but the scenario fails me because I didn't pick up water at Exeter!
Has anyone invested in the JT BR Std Class 5MT and tried the same Steam Tour To The West scenario? If so does this have the same problem? I would be happy to purchase the 5MT if I knew it worked.
