AI traffic during cruise
-
@rich, can-you explain how the AI traffic we are supposed to see during the flight is build ? I mean, I can see some, but only very very few ! (maybe 1 or 2 / hour).
Do-you plan to improve this ?
Will it be possible to also setup the quantity of these AI flights ?

I'm guessing they kick off from airports just within a certain radius of your position.. and then disappear?
In the old days bgl files would send them from point A to B and they would take off a then land etc. The full monty.
JF won't give away their secrets of course, but performance is the USP with this app... so they have my vote 😎👍

Yes, it must be a tricky balancing act for them to have to provide AI aircraft in the air, yet keep performance well enough to be able to play.
FS2020 is a different beast than its previous incarnations. A lot more resource hungry I believe.

I think I will also test to reduce this traffic cruise spawn timer.
Now, probably, to determin from their flights database schredule, that a flight will be involved with your own flight path, is probably very complex and I don't know if JF is doing that.
Of course, with FlightRadar24, it is very simple ! You just look a certain radius around you present position and inject the flight you found.

This is why I bought "FS Traffic" or are willing to pay money for! :-)
They should know from their former versions how to do that. At least that's what I thought/hoped. -
@acsoft I reduced it from the beginning to 1 and it does increase cruise traffic spawns, but still wayyyyyyy to less. hope there will be improvement in the future. also traffic displayed always have that placeholder egss-levc or they departed/arrive at your departure/destination airport
-
@andymp425 Yes, and to my humble view, this is why we have so few cruise traffic.
As I explain in the beginning, they should not only include these kind of flight, but also ANY flights that may interact with our own flight.
By interact, I think, passing close of our position at some time of our flight. This is what, maybe, is not easy to determin from their flights database !

We had plenty of en route traffic from a variety of departure/destination flight plans in previous incarnations of Just Flight Traffic programs and Traffic add-ons from rival developers. But this current method of injecting made up flights into our route (that rarely show up anyway) is awful.

@goose-28 yes, over time the sky fills up with unnecessary traffic that departs from your departure airport and doesnt get removed but insted is displayed even 500nm away from you. there also seem to be some aircraft at your destination and some traffic that departed from your destination. but airports in between that are empty. its only the flights from/to your destination/departure aside from the 2-3 egss-levc aircraft. this is how it works for me too,but I think thats a bummer.
-
@goose-28 How did you get that amount of traffic?
I have never seen such an amount with FS Traffic.
You can put your traffic settings in sim. Departure and destination airport. Time and day of the flight and settings in FS Traffic to be able to test? -
