    A new user is unable to redeem a gift card - there is no option for it, only Credit Card and Paypal. The option is available if you have an existing account.

    Since the only way to get an account is to buy something, it is impossible to gift someone something from JustFlight unless they already have bought something and have an account. This experience makes for a lousy present and a horrible introduction to JustFlight for that new potential buyer.

    I have just gone through this experience with a friend to whom I wanted to gift the not unsubstantial BAe146 for his birthday. Now it's Saturday and he is sitting there looking at a screen asking him for his Credit Card or Paypal information.

    Disappointing. Can this be changed please?

      @wowbaggr

      If you contact Just Flight support it can be sorted for you. I agree - it is a useless system but not ours; it is as provided by the gift card company. We can't 'sell' gigt cards as it means you would need to become a credit broker. So, what we (and most companies in our position) do is use a specialist supplier. They all work much the same. NB you can set up an account by 'buying' the free 757.

        @derek

        Thanks much for the quick reply and the information plus suggestion. I was looking for something free to 'buy' but everything looked like a direct download link. I think I managed to 'spoof' the system buy choosing paypal and then backing out of paypal, which still created the account - then reset the password, and was able to continue as if it was a normal account. Seemed to work.

        I will try one/both theses methods with my friend later today - starting with the free 757.

        I'm still a little lost as to why the Gift Card & Just Rewards option isn't there for new users. Or why it isn't possible to set up an account prior to purchase, but hopefully these work arounds will get us going.

        Thanks again

        edit: Oh, and I had already sent a note to Just Flight support to see what could be done.

          To clarify, Just Rewards are only provided when you make a purchase, so it is impossible to use them if you haven't bought something already - they are allocated to the account.

          Setting up accounts beforte purchase - in theory that is easy enough to do. In practice it gets swamped by bots and fake accounts, so it's something we got shot of around 2007. We did look at whether you could simply gift someomne a product but then you hit the problem of how to let the recipient choose for themselves, which gets you back to holding 'cash' in an account for someone and then you fall foul of the law. Yes, I know some other sites do it without using a card provider, but that's not our style.

            Thanks for the detailed explanation. Anyway, got it sorted with the 757 workaround.

            Cheers,
            have a great weekend.
