I know there is no auto throttle. But why is it that when I set a constant N1 on ENG 1 and the others are synced to that, N1 will often roll +/- 3% without input?

@mraviator I noticed that N1 will increase as you get faster, and decrease as you get slower.

It hard to find that sweet spot of constant N1 where the aircraft doesn't accelerate nor slow down !

In cruise, I find setting the TMS to TGT mode with the current TGT temperature at the desired cruise speed dialed in on the thumb wheel, of the TMS, holds speed a lot better. You can make small adjustments to the temperature input of the TMS and the engines will adjust accordingly. This only works if the TGT temps are above 600°. Makes a world of difference

@mraviator It's an ALF502. On the real aircraft is is kinda finniky that way.

The thrust management system is literally linear-actuators inline with the cable input into the fuel control on the engine. It hunts a bit before settling down.

Is TGT used for cruise IRL ? No phasing issues when engines have slightly different N1 RPM ?

@genista It isn't used in RL typically in cruise. Typically N1 Sync with engine 1 or 2.

@plhought Do you know when you would want N1 vs N2 sync? It's an option both here and the Aerosoft CRJ, but I don't know when you would want one versus the other.
