I fly one IRL and the way I plan for flights is work out how long I need to fly for (distance / TAS), and I multiple by the nominal fuel consumption of 60 L/h (55 L/h cruise and 70 L/h climb if you want to be more precise).  However much you need + additional 30 min (or 45 min for IFR) fixed reserve.  Alternates, holds etc you can take a bit more but that's getting complicated.</p>
<p dir="auto">I generally do that calc + a bit more for my peace of mind.</p>
