<p dir="auto">Are we meant to be able to install the updated versions over top of existing installations, or are we meant to uninstall the old versions fully before installing the update?</p>

The newly downloaded installer with have a higher version number than the version currently installed on your PC, and will trigger the "update" process.</p>
